Ooooh what a beautiful head of hair 7 day old Lewis has! Sometimes it’s about the little details . . . like the soft downy hair on a newborn baby’s shoulders, and the wrinkly skin. Although with most shoots where there is an older sibling, like two and a half year old Beth whom was quite enchanting, and an absolute whizz at nappy changing, you always want to get a shot of the two of them together . . . even if one of them is moving around like lightening In fact Beth was so enchanting and reminded me of my own daughter at the same age, that I almost forgot I was there to photograph her baby brother. These are a few of my favourites.

I love photographing newborn babies and fall a little bit in love with them all. Infact Primrose was so gorgeous that I almost took her home with me. I arrived at the same time as the midwife, which is something that hardly ever happens normally, but Primrose was soon ready to be photographed and the rest of the morning went like a breeze We had a wonderful bump shoot with big sister Florence not so long ago . . . if you missed that click on this link. Saturday dawned and there was barely a cloud in the sky  . . .  a perfect day for Nicki and Ollie’s wedding in a weeny Marlow church followed by a reception at Old Luxters Barn. It was very important to Nicki for me to get lots of photos of Ollie as well before the ceremony . . . she said ‘it always seems to be about the bride but it’s OUR wedding day’. So after capturing the bridesmaids getting their hair and make up done, accompanied by some rather delicious chocolate dipped strawberries and bucks fizz, I dashed off to The Chequers pub in Marlow to find Ollie sporting some fabulous ‘Return to Wife’ cuff links! It was such a beautiful day . . . these are just a few of my favourites. By the way, the flowers in the first photo had been ear marked for the church to go with some hearts but they were a bit heavy and made their way to the reception without making an appearance, so I thought I’d use them

I lived in Olney for 10 years and oh how I wish Noa Noa had been there at the time, but it gives me a wonderful excuse to go back and browse around this small Buckinghamshire town and it’s plethora of shops. Olney is a fabulous place to shop  . . . it even has it’s own Shopping Queen :) And Noa Noa is one of my very favourite shops so I was delighted when Kathy asked me along to their Champagne & Shopping evening to celebrate their first year of trading. Whether you’re looking for something special to wear for a wedding or engagement, or you just want essential wardrobe items like a t shirt, Kathy and her lovely staff will give you a very warm welcome.

Not everyone wants to emulate the classic Demi Moore celeb bump shoot and although I’m always very happy to try almost anything, I don’t have a standard range of poses, preferring to create really natural and individual photographs for all my clients. So my main priority when I meet a couple for the first time with any shoot is to find out what sort of things are important to them, and with maternity shoots in particular, how comfortable they feel about showing a bit of skin. Whilst Miguel was more than happy to remove his t shirt and their little boy loved being a bit naked ~ isn’t he just gorgeous ~ Diana didn’t want to show too much flesh, and so we worked together to create a beautiful set of unique maternity photos. I can’t wait to meet their baby girl

I met this lovely family today at a beautiful village called Aldbury close to a favourite haunt of theirs ~ the National Trust Woods at Ashridge. Just on the border between Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, it will be filled with masses of bluebells later this year. Five year old Sofia and Amelie were naturally a little shy to start with but by the end of the shoot were giving me loads of ideas and directions These are a few of my favourites  . . .

Ooooh I can’t wait to photograph Nicki and Ollie’s wedding and seeing all that ‘mutual weirdness’ in action. I just had to share their beautiful retro Save the Date cards and Wedding Invitations that a talented graphic designer friend created for them  I love how the Save the Date postcard has a Spanish postmark with the date that Ollie proposed in Barcelona! Isn’t that romantic?

It’s been a while since I last photographed these two gorgeous children . . . Seren was a wee baby with eyes like saucers, so it was absolutely lovely to see them again yesterday. The family now live in Ashby St Ledgers ~ a beautiful village with masses of history and a stunning Manor House with extensive grounds, which we had special permission to go into for some of the shoot! Generally there’s not much posing with my style of photography but when you have two or more children dashing off in different directions and you want a family group shot, this needs to be a little bit organised. After a stroll around the Manor House gardens there was still time for a play in the local park before setting off home to see Pixel, the family’s dog. He is very much part of the team in Rick’s digital branding agency Look Touch Feel ~ he even has his own Twitter page

Railways and steam engines have always held a special magic for me . . . right back to when I was a child waving at the trains going past. So you can imagine me leaping with excitement when Emma and James said they had booked Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for their wedding reception next year and wanted their engagement shoot there too as close as possible to the anniversary of their wedding The weather was perfect although the Centre is beautifully bright and airy and there are lots of indoor places to explore as well: Adrian and his team were so helpful and obliging, opening up especially for us. And the colours were amazing, which is why this sneak preview is nearly all in colour. Green fingered Emma runs Signature Flowers so had lots of ideas about how they would like the shoot to go but she didn’t want anything too contrived or loaded with props. I had been looking forward to seeing the heart of flowers she was hoping to make but she was too busy in the days leading up to the shoot and didn’t manage to do one. I’m sure there will be masses of beautiful arrangements at the wedding though .
